SHEEP LEAD
Superintendent: Jody Lynn Bassett
Thursday, July 31st, 2008 (immediately following PeeWee Sheep Show) in the east Show Arena.
The Sheep Lead is designed to use wool
clothing and a unique presentation of the sheep breeds to add a touch of glamour
and style to the County Fair, while promoting the various breeders and the sheep
and wool industry.
The object of the Sheep Lead is to present sheep in the most
attractive manner and give the spectators an opportunity to see a new innovation
in displaying the products of the industry. This is often worn by the
contestant.
Entrants who wish to participate in the lead may be of any
age. They must provide their own outfit and those for the sheep they lead. The
outfit must be at least 50% wool, but not necessarily handmade. Can be worn in
previous years by other contestants. Can be made by someone else. Each
participant must have a script typed or well printed on a 5X7 card as they want
it to be read for narration. (Include: Name, Lamb's Name, Age, Hometown, Any
siblings?, Shown bigger sheep or shown sheep at all before?, see your mommy in
the crowd?.)
Entrants must be responsible for the ewe or ewe lamb of which
they lead. Sheep must be returned to the proper owner. Entrants must be a
Wyoming Resident only and can be men, women, boys, or girls.
Sheep to be led must be ewes or ewe lambs of any breed. Ewes
must be conditioned, fitted, and trained to show at halter by exhibitor. The ewe
need not be your own sheep.
This contest should be of interest of anyone who sews, likes
to model, and to all sheep breeders in the county. Trophies and prizes will be
awarded. Anyone desiring furthur information or who needs help in locating a ewe
